Description
SHINE is the first hard X-ray FEL facility in China. With high pulse repetation (up to 1MHz), short pulse width, high brightness and strong coherence, SHINE will supply a powerful solution for kinds of revolutional scientific research in physics, chemistry, materials, biology and so on. In order to efficiently utilize the unique photons of SHINE, some particular performances are required for the 2D area detectors, like single photon sensitive, large dynamic range and high frame readout rate. STARLIGHT (SemiconducTor Array detectoR with Large dynamIc ranGe and cHarge inTegrating readout, SL) is a pixel array detector developed for the special requirements of SHINE. The typical properties of SL are charge integrating readout, high frame rate (≥10kHz) and large dynamic range (≥10k photons @ 12keV). In this report, the background, design and progress of SL will be shown.
