Description
At the University of Tokyo, we are conducting research on dielectric laser acceleration (DLA), in which charged particles are directly accelerated by the electromagnetic fields of laser light, potentially enabling a substantial reduction in accelerator size. We are developing a DLA system driven by a 2-µm thulium-doped fiber laser with high wall-plug efficiency and employing microfabricated silicon and/or glass structures as dielectric accelerating structures, with the aim of demonstrating proof-of-principle electron acceleration. In this presentation, we report the current status of DLA acceleration experiments at the University of Tokyo and discuss future prospects.
