Description

High-repetition-rate X-ray free-electron lasers (XFELs) generate massive and heterogeneous data, creating major challenges for data acquisition, processing, storage, and management. SHINE is developing a data-intensive infrastructure to support beamline commissioning and future user experiments, while enabling the transformation of raw experimental data into standardized and AI-ready scientific data.

A key focus is the construction of a unified data framework with standardized structures, rich scientific metadata, complete scientific semantics, and machine-accessible interfaces. Facility operation, photon diagnostics, experimental measurements, calibration data, and simulations are integrated to form interpretable and reusable scientific datasets.

This framework provides the basis for multimodal data fusion, AI-assisted analysis, and future scientific agents, supporting SHINE’s evolution toward standardized, reusable, and AI-ready scientific data.
