Description
The Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB collider is pursuing a broad program of precision measurements in flavor physics and searches for physics beyond the Standard Model. With the experiment approaching the 1 ab-1 milestone and SuperKEKB reaching record instantaneous luminosities, Belle II is entering an important phase of high-luminosity operation.
This talk will review the current status of the SuperKEKB accelerator and the Belle II detector, together with selected physics results demonstrating the capabilities and scientific potential of the experiment. The experience gained during operation at increasing luminosity and the challenges for continued high-luminosity running will also be discussed.
The talk will then present the planned developments of the accelerator and detector, including the ongoing upgrade program. The main motivations and technological developments will be discussed in the context of the future Belle II physics program, followed by an outlook on the longer-term evolution of the experiment.
