Description

The Shanghai HIgh repititioN rate XFEL and Extreme light facility (SHINE) is one of the world's most powerful photon sources. Initiated in 2018, this project is designed to build an 8 GeV continuous-wave superconducting linac operating at a repetition rate as high as 1 MHz, with two beamlines delivering photons between 0.2 and 15 keV and six experimental stations in the first stage. Following a step-by-step installation and commissioning approach, major phased milestones are being achieved annually from 2024 to 2026: the 100 MeV injector, 300 MeV linac section, 4 GeV linac with soft X-ray FEL line. This talk will present the progress of SHINE construction and commissioning to date.
